Shannon Messer, M. Ed

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Shannon Messer is a passionate educator and advocate for underserved youth with 16 years of experience in education, including 11 years as a Special Education teacher in Austin school districts. A cum laude graduate of Texas State University with a Master's in Education, Shannon has dedicated her career to empowering students with diverse learning needs — earning recognition as a two-time award winner for her commitment to students with disabilities and social-emotional learning. Her work doesn't stop at the classroom door. As a longtime nonprofit volunteer, she has mentored youth through Explore Austin, coached girls through Girls on the Run, and developed camp curriculum for neurodivergent youth through the Children & Nature Network. Now, Shannon is channeling that dual expertise in education and nonprofit work into founding a summer camp where every child — regardless of ability — has the opportunity to grow, connect, and thrive.

Crystal Lantu, M.S.

Curriculum Director & Instructor

Crystal Lantu - or just Lantu, as is preferred - is a reader, traveler, rock collector, cosplayer, and devoted Animal Crossing enthusiast living in Austin with her husband and teenage son. As an SEL and behavior-focused special education teacher, Lantu believes kids learn best when they feel safe, seen, and maybe a little entertained. Her work is built on real relationships and hands-on experiences that actually stick - because whether she's teaching emotional regulation, friendship skills, or behavioral strategies, her philosophy remains the same: make it meaningful, make it fun, and meet every student exactly where they are. She has created and facilitated workshops for parents and families, offering a supportive space where caregivers feel heard and leave with real, tangible tools to connect with and support their children at home and in their community. She has also developed teacher training workshops centered on neurodiversity-affirming classroom approaches - because equitable access to meaningful learning starts with the adults in the room.
